American Indian Embossed Gremlin Bell
I saw him as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a $5 bill and handed it to the panhandler sitting at the intersection, holding a sign, "Veteran - down on his luck." Later, as we shared a beer in a little bar in Belle Fourche Wyoming and I asked, "that guy probably makes more money panhandling there all day than you do...why'd you give him anything?" My friend replied, "He's a Veteran, and I was just buying him a beer."
The legend is that the cavity of these bells attract evil highway gremlins and the constant tinkling of the bell clapper forces them to lose their grip and fall to the highway where they become road kill.... now we're not sure if we believe it, but what could it hurt?
