That’s why the season of motorcycles is also the season of charity rides. From the summer on, there are plenty of events to participate in.
Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial Ride & Cook-Off – June 29
After a brief memorial ceremony, the memorial ride kicks off through scenic Harris, Fort Bend, Waller, Brazoria and Galveston Counties. Ending at the Galveston County Fairgrounds, participants can engage in a plethora of festivities. Between eating plates of barbecue food, riders can listen to live entertainment and participate in bike games. Registration costs $25 per rider and $35 for rider and passenger. Money is raised for the Texas Fallen Heroes Family Network fund, a Texas LODD Task Force program that provides support to the families of firefighters who gave their life in the line of duty.
Bikers for Heroes – September 14
The 2nd Annual Bikers For Heroes Patriotic Parade raises funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, to honor wartime veterans. A fleet of motorcycles will begin and end in the Community of Westminster with scenic routes through Farmersville Square and The War Memorial Plaza. You can enter the event for $20, which includes a T-shirt for the first 100 registered. Big Slicks will provide a free breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and a burger and chips lunch for $5 at the ride’s end, according to the Bikers for Heroes website.
Revvin’ for the Ribbon – September 21
Motorcyclists will don their pink ribbons for this upcoming community event benefiting breast surgery patients. The proceeds raised will go toward the Ultimate Healing Kits for patients at local hospitals. Revvin’ for the Ribbon consists of a motorcycle rally winding through the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex—500 riders are expect to participate, according to CycleFish.com. An expo will also take place with live music and stories from the breast cancer community.
